Blog # 12

I will focus on ensuring I introduce sources more effectively and eliminate the tone that suggests the reader of my essay has read the articles beforehand. My main goal is to write a compelling essay that is intelligent but still an easy read, I would like to engage the reader and make them think from new perspectives. First I need to make sure I make the essay will make sense to someone who has done none of the readings, I must remember nothing is self evident and everything should be justified. Next, I must restructure the essay to improve the flow of ideas. I believe the biggest challenge will be switching my perspective to that of someone who is unfamiliar with the sources. If I am unable to do this on my own I can either present my work to someone who has not read the texts and see if they are detecting my message or I could ask for help from my wonderful professor! I have plenty of other resources at my disposal as well such as my peers or the “They say I say” book. I do not have a strong central thesis written yet. When I add this I will be able to write more and restructure what I have to fit the thesis. Doing so will give my essay a sense of unity and make my argument more clear to the reader.
