All of our essays in this class began with active reading. My favorite strategies for active reading are to ask questions, clear the fog, and arguing with the author I feel like these all help me understand and engage with the text in a deeper and more meaningful way that ultimately leads to a better essay. For brainstorming the essay I almost always just start writing, freewriting allows me to get my first thoughts on the page easily then I am able to figure the rest out after. After that Is when I liked to gather my quotes and further support my arguments. When it comes time to revise my go to’s were rereading and peer review. I typically took to heart whatever my peers had to say about my essay and made changes that improved my essay without compromising what I wanted it to be. As for the recursive portion of the recursive writing process, I honestly should have gone through the cycle more than once but I typically did not.
